Sara Ali Khan on social media burnout: Always presenting your best is exhausting

Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan graced the cover of Harper’s Bazaar this month, offering a look into her life beyond the silver screen. In the interview, the young actor opened up about the challenges of social media burnout and the pressure to always present a perfect version of herself to the public.
Speaking to the magazine, Sara, who was last seen in Prime Video’s Ae Watan Mere Watan, said that while her work on movie sets keeps her energised, it’s the peripheral aspects of her profession – like maintaining an ideal image on social media – that can be draining.
“Truth be told, I think that every day that I spend on a movie set, I’m so thankful for the chance that I don’t think I’ll be burnt out in that regard. But it is the other things associated with the job that can cause burnout. For instance, social media, or always trying to present the best version of yourself, can be exhausting. It’s never the work,” said the Simmba actor.
Sara also spoke about how she balances the demands of her public life with much-needed personal time. Her antidote to the pressures of the spotlight? Taking regular breaks from social media and immersing herself in nature.
“Taking time off social media and having a safe haven for yourself—travelling away from the city, meditation—helps me maintain a balance,” she explains. “My favourite way to unwind is trekking. The mountains help me identify the more important things in life. Be it meditation or travel, these things are therapeutic. It’s not escaping my reality, but it gives me the time to rejuvenate and connect with the real Sara so that I can give my work even more.”
On the work front, Sara Ali Khan will be seen next in Metro In Dino. She also has Akshay Kumar-starrer Sky Force in the pipeline.
